About

Connecting our community through
regional folk traditions.

Rockbridge FOLK fosters community by providing opportunities for people of all ages to share and experience regional folk traditions face to face.

Our Board Members:

Becky Almy, President

Becky has been deeply entwined in music, crafting, gardening and home cooking throughout her life, but found a true passion for building community around those folk traditions while on a National Ladies Homestead Gathering Retreat at Foxfire Museum and Heritage Center in Clayton, Georgia in 2012. Every day since she has been formulating and re-formulating the concept of Rockbridge FOLK and is thrilled to bring this dream to life. She is passionate about playing and experiencing live music, cooking and enjoying simple, real food, and sharing those experiences with her family and friends.

Laurie Macrae, Tresurer

Laurie is a lover of life and in the wisdom of the Blue Ridge, Allegheny and Smokey Mountains. She believes that food and medicine should be free, loves wildcrafting herbal tinctures and foraging for food. She raised 2 stellar sons in a cabin on the Maury River and for 33 years her passion was hauling water, smelling wood smoke, sewing family clothes and stepping out to the johnny house in the night’s darkness. Her love for the ‘simple,’ old-time traditions has carried through to timber framing, her clawhammer style banjo playing and into her family camp where she now watches her grandchildren enjoy these same traditional ways.

Accacia Mullen, Secretary

Accacia teaches people to sew and connects those interested in the textile arts with beautiful materials and other enthusiasts through her shop, Make It Sew. She was born in Massachusetts, the daughter of a dulcimer player/songwriter/poet/editor and an upholstery seamstress. Her Appalachian ancestry includes expert handweavers credited with reviving the handicraft. Accacia is married to Grigg Mullen III, a machinist who makes fantastic ice cream and is a fixture in the local timber framing community. She is excited to help share the folk traditions of our region!
